On November 12, 2024, QWF will award a prize of $3,000 to honour excellence in children's literature by a Quebec English-language writer. This year, the prize will be awarded to the author of the eligible book of fiction, non-fiction, or poetry in the sub-category of picture books and books for beginning readers that the jury deems to have made the most significant contribution of the year to the body of Quebec English-language children’s literature. Longer chapter books, middle-grade and young adult literature published this year and next may be submitted next year for the 2025 Janet Savage Blachford Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature. Books deemed borderline by the publisher may be submitted in either year; QWF will determine the suitable category and, if required, will hold the submission for the following year and notify the publisher.

On November 12, 2024, QWF will award up to three prizes of $1,000 each to honour excellence in spoken word as a literary art. The prize is open to Quebec-based spoken word artists, storytelling artists, and literary performance artists working primarily in English in any form of performative writing, including poetry, story, monologue, hip hop, dub, sound poetry, experimental, or interdisciplinary work.

Winners' videos will be shown at the QWF Awards Gala. All finalists will be invited to perform at the Read Quebec Book Fair in December 2024 and their performances will be preserved online via the SpokenWeb Archive of the Present.
